In this Lab you will learn how to create a custom role in vCenter Server, Assign permission on vCenter Server inventory Objects and verifying permission Usability.
VMware enables you to create custom roles by using the role editing facilities in the VMware vSphere web client to create authentication to match the user wants.
to create a role you should go to vCenter > administration > click on roles > and click on the add role icon
Type VM Creator – yourname as for the name and click next.
In the privileges pane click on datastore and select on Allocate space.
in the network section click on Assign network.
in resource you have to select Assign virtual machine to resource pool.
in the virtual machine configuration select Add new disk > Add or remove device > Memory.
In virtual machine select all the all privileges in Interaction and in Inventory just click on create new.
when everything configure click on next, and you will be ready to complete it click on next and select finish. when you finished as you can see the below image your custom role role permissions will be appear under the role column.
To assign your custom role permissions on vCenter server go to vCenter>VM and templates select your LabVMs folder. After that click on manage > go to the permission tab click on add permission icon, you will get the assign permission dialog box> click on add
when you click click on add you will be able to see the custom role specification permission , select it and click on ok. The below images will guide you through the process. The same process should take on while you give the permission to your ESXi hosts.
now lets create a machine to check the permission usability. logout from the administrator account and sign in from the account you gave the permission. after signing in go to vCenter > VMs and Templates > right click on the LabVMs folder and create a new virtual machine. follow images below it will guide you through creating a machine.
when the machine working created and if its working fine you can delete it the machine > to delete the machine right click on it and click on delete from the disk.
