Lab 6 (Introduction to Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) with Windows Server)

In this lab will introduce you to amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) Using the AWS Management Console.

In this qwik lab you will learn :

  • How to log in to the Amazon Management Console
  • How to create a Windows Server Instance from an Amazon Machine Image(AMI)
  • How to find your instance in the Amazon Management Console
  • How to log in to your Instance

An EC2 instance is a virtual server in Amazon’s Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) for running applications on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure.

Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) is a web service that provides resizable compute capacity in the cloud. It is designed to make web-scale cloud computing easier for developers. Amazon EC2’s simple web service interface allows you to obtain and configure capacity with minimal friction.

Note: Amazon EC2 is free to try. There are four ways to pay for Amazon EC2 instances: On-Demand, Reserved Instances, and Spot Instances. You can also pay for Dedicated Hosts which provide you with EC2 instance capacity on physical servers dedicated for your use. If you are using a free tier up to a certain level you can use it free for an one year

To Create a Amazon EC2 instance Running windows Server Click on Services and then click on EC2. click on Launch Instance

On the choose an Amazon Machine Image (AMI) page scroll down a bit and select Windows Server 2012R2 Base. click next.

click next with the given setting.

Click next with the default settings.

Click next with the default settings.

On the Add tags instance type name for your Amazon EC2 instance such as web server and then click Next:Configure Security Group.

Leave the Create a new security group Option selected and click on review and launch.

Click on Launch.

To view the state of your instance click on View Instances. Download the security key as PEM

Now lets connect your Amazon EC2 instance click on your instance and click on Connect.

Click on Download Remote Desktop File and save it in your local machine. Do the same procedure for Get Password click on it download it.

To decrypt the password click on the getpassword file you downloaded and upload it and click on Decrypt Password.

Save the Password and the user name on a text file.

To get connected to the Amazon EC2 instance double click on the RDC connection you dowloaded and provide the password you copied in the earlier text file.

Click yes .

Now you are connected with EC2 instance.
